I am using the Kadence’s Count Down block on the front page of our website

There is no issue on the English version, but somehow the block “flickers” every second on the French site.

Any suggestion as to how this “flickering” can be stopped?

    TIA

    Hi,
Thanks for reaching out! Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this. Are you using a plugin to translate your site? If so, which one? Is this the only block giving you trouble?

    Kindly,
    Hannah

    Hi Hannah,

Yes, I am using TranslatePress v2.2.2 and I have not had any issues with any other blocks.

I do not have a cache plugin on my site. I have deactivated each of my plugin, one at a time, and nothing has changed

The Count Down on the French version of my site is still flickering every seconds for 1min and 40secs, then it stops flickering and is replaced by the English version (which is the language the Count Down was originally setup in), which is not appropriate for our French speaking visitors.

Your assistance would greatly be appreciated.

    TIA

    Hi, @mdomingue.

Thank you for the additional information.

I’ll pass this on to our developers to see what could be the cause of that. We’ll update you once we were able to hear back from them.

    Kind Regards,
    Karla

    Hi, @mdomingue.

Try to enable option #1(Fix missing dynamic content) from this documentation article. You’ll see the option by going to Settings > Translatepress > Advanced tab.

Hope this helps and let us know if we can assist you further.

    Regards,
    Karla

    Hello Karla,

Thank you for passing this issue to the developers and getting back to me.

Unfortunately, the Fix missing dynamic content did not solve the issue ??

I just noticed that when I go to the French homepage, the Count Down flickers extremely quick from French to English and stops on English after it is done flickering. – Again, the Count Down block is set in English (default language for the website) and translated via TranslatePress V.2.2.2

I even tried to setup 2 different Count Down blocks, 1 with English text and 1 with French text and inserted them as per TranslatePress instructions – just like I have done with other blocks or pdf embedder for example – and that did not work either (still flickering on the French site).

I have no issues with any other Kadence blocks I have used so far and translated via TranslatePress.

Thank you so much for looking into this and look forward to your reply

    Hi Mario,

The page keeps detecting changes in the “pre-counter” element, most likely due to the dynamic translation and therefor (it seems) reloads the page.

That is done by the following JS in translatepress (see https://i.imgur.com/4XqP4C0.jpg); when I remove that function the flickering or flashing stops.

I suggest you contact Translatepress support on this issue, there are more reports of similar problems.

    Hello all,

    I contacted TranslatePress as suggested.

They did get back to me suggesting to enable the features
    1. Fix missing dynamic content
    2. Disable dynamic translation in TranslatePress > Settings > Advanced
1 by 1 in this order and try to see if it makes a difference. And to disable them back if it makes no difference.

I had reset the block to the usual translation – 1 block set up in English and translated to French.

I did enable each one of them individually on and off and it did not make a difference – in fact, enabling “Disable dynamic translation” stopped the translation all together.

Enabling both of them on did not fix the issue either.

So, I recreated a separate French Count Down and placed it in my page as a “conditional block” using `[trp_language language=en_CA]
    – English block –
    [/trp_language]
    [trp_language language=fr_CA]
    – French block –
    [/trp_language]`

I, again, enabled each one of these options separately and no changes. I then enabled both options and so far it looks like it is working quite fine. I refreshed my page multiple times, switched back and forth from English to French and so far so good…

I thought I would post the “fix” here in case others have the same issue.

    Mario

    Hi Mario,

Great, good to hear it can be resolved like this. And thanks so much for your technical feedback, without doubt that will help others!
