    The difference here is that the first picture includes a caption, resulting in the rendering of a <figure> container tag around the media credit. You can either do some clever adaption of the CSS code or override the caption and media credit shortcodes in your theme to adjust the HTML output. I’ll try to provide better handling of this when HTML5 tags are enabled, but getting things to work regardless of whether there’s an enclosing [caption] or not is quite difficult.

    Actually, it wasn’t hard at all when I remembered that I had already been thinking about this *doh*

    Will be fixed in 3.0. You can download the development version from https://github.com/mundschenk-at/media-credit if you want.
