Just the Filter Option without Layout?

Hello,

We’re looking for a way to add a filter function to a current category page. On this page, posts from two different categories are listed. We want to be able to filter the posts based on category or by tags.

There is a parent category page, then there are two child category pages. The posts are assigned to these two child category pages based on the time of content they have.

All three category pages are built with a custom php category template.

Can we use just the filtering option of your plugin and use it with the plugin we are using to display the posts?
