Just moved to WordPress (and Korea) a€? reviews appreciated.

So I have this personal blog, https://abroad-abroad.org
For a while I was using a HIGHLY modified Blogger template hosted on my own server. Several Blogger blogs, actually, to achieve the same effect as Pages.
I have recently switched to WP, which nessesitated a redesign, and now I’d like some opinions. I’m not so interested in the text of the site so much as the layout and any bugs I may have missed.
In truth, I’m a hardcore minimalist, and I’m wondering if maybe there is too much in the sidebars. Also, is it okay to use red for links (I’m just asking about basic web protocol). Otherwise, I really love WP and I’m wondering why I didn’t make the switch earlier. It has been a bit of a learning curve, as I’m self-taught CSS and html a€?? and now PHP too, but definately worth it.
I’m pretty much done with the site in terms of tweaking – the last thing is validating some of the older posts and categories I imported from Blogger, so if you see something that seems inconsistent or links that don’t work, please advise. Otherwise, thanks for looking!
P.S. (I should add that I am no longer on the leave of absense, though I haven’t started posting again yet, I will in the next few days. Just taking a break to make the switch to WP.)
