    There are some PHP errors

    /genesis-simple-sidebars/plugin.php on line 53
    /genesis-simple-sidebars/plugin.php on line 55

My host is saying don’t use this plugin.

Just because a plugin is popular doesn’t necessarily means that it will work here in Cloud Sites due to the fact that a lot of plugin operate as though they’re on their own server and that wouldn’t be the case with Cloud Sites. I would recommend removing that plugin so that you’re site isn’t down and using either another plugin or doing this through .htaccess with something like thisJ S: https://www.sysadminworld.com/2012/enable-gzip-compression-for-rackspace-cloud-sites/

    Hi @ray Monohan,

Sorry for the trouble you had.

Are there any other errors in the debug log, other than Genesis one?

About the host recommendation of using .htaccess for compression, it would work great for the HTML, JS and CSS, but not for images. (ref: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4957172/why-i-should-not-compress-images-in-http-headers )

You’ll need a plugin to optimise images for your site.

I’d love to help you run the plugin on your hosting in any possible manner, if possible at all.
And once we figure out the conflict on Cloud Sites, it’ll help other users as well.

Coming back to your issue, do you happen to have a staging site in there? If you could please try WP Smush in there and check the debug log for cause of error.

    Cheers

So what is the next step here?

The only errors I see in error logs are

[01-Mar-2016 17:54:30 UTC] PHP Warning: Illegal string offset ‘name’ in /***/***/*****/www.capperspicks.com/web/content/wp-content/themes/capper_vs3/plugins/genesis-simple-sidebars/plugin.php on line 53

I finally got this to install on my server without it crashing…(maybe a new update?)

BUT when I run the program from wp-admin

Media > WP Smush my URL still throws up an error.

    Site temporarily unavailable.

Connection timed out – please try again.

I’ve got a dev. site up and its working fine there. At least I can get past step 1 anyways…I see this message.

Upgrade to WP Smush Pro to:

Smush the original Full image sizes that are normally skipped by default.
    NextGen Gallery integration
“Super-Smush” your images with our intelligent multi-pass lossy compression. Get 2× more compression than lossless with almost no noticeable quality loss!

    etc etc

I can now get smush FREE to work but only if I deactivate all plugins first.

I ran the 50 images change…that was fine…went to do something else, tried to go to media >> WP Smush again…and again its crashed the URL w/ same error as above…so to get smush bulk to work again I’d have to go into plugins and deactivate a bunch again..this is a hassle.

I think its a conflict with either YOAST SEO or YARPP plugins…though can’t figure out which.
