Please be kind, I’m a newbie to WordPress and it’s baffling me a bit!

I’ve just installed WordPress via Softaculous and the WordPress is somehow connected to my website rather than fully downloading WP. Once installed it gives me a link https://www.mywebsite.co.uk/wp-admin/ …. but when I click that I get a 404 page not found. I don’t know how to log-in or start making my site.

I’ve currently got my site set up on Wix but with hosting through site5. I’m starting again with the design so I don’t need to save any elements from my Wix site.

    Please help! Thanks!

That’s the problem. If your domain (let’s say example.com) is currently directed to Wix, then example.com/wp-admin/ won’t load because that /wp-admin/ bit doesn’t exist over at Wix.

You’ll need to either direct your domain name to Site5, start up a new domain name at Site5 and reinstall WordPress on that, or contact Site5 support to see if they have any temporary domain options for you.

Ah ok Thanks, that makes sense now.

I’ll have another google of How to transfer Wix to WordPress and ask site5 too.
