Just Can't Get Rid Of This Plugin

  • I installed this plugin and had some rather time consuming issues with it. Changing the wp-admin folder locked me out. I deleted every trace of this plugin (following the details given here: https://bit51.com/what-is-changed-by-better-wp-security/ .

    I managed to be able to log back in with another computer, but my personal laptop still cant be used to login to that site. I’ve erased everything, even the database entries (I made sure I did everything correctly). I can login fine with a PC, but my personal Mac get’s forwarded to a 404 every time I try to log in.

    What I have done so far:
    – Deleted the plugin and all entries in the database as well as in WP files (incl. htaccess).
    – Cleared browser cache, restarted browser, cleared history, cleared cookies, tried several browsers
    – Clears my Mac’s DNS cache (god knows why)

    All without success!

    Can anyone help me with this problem?

    WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!

    How did this pugin get so many good reviews? It’s seriously the worst and destructive plugin I’ve ever used.

    I STILL have to deal with the mess that this thing has caused.

    What’s in the .htaccess files?

    Just delete them then go to Settings -> Permalinks. and click save again so it rewrites htaccess.

    No code from Better WP Security. I tried to delete just the “Better WP Security” code, then I deleted the entire file.
