Causing troubles

  • Not working auto-purge cache on page updates out of the box.
    After uninstall, leaves a lot of files, folders and DB values behind.
    Even after uninstall, forces browsers to cache old pages, which breaks the website. ESPECIALLY eCommerce.

    You have to uninstall it manually, clean unneeded files/folders, check .htaccess, then clean the DB from ‘w3tc…’ values.

    Interesting that on 3 websites with same theme and similar config, it works differently.

    ONLY FOR ADVANCED DEVELOPERS!!

    Oh, and it leaves a LOT OF GARBAGE IN DATABASE after uninstall.

    And you call yourself the best caching plugin… that is a joke.

    Thank you for your review.
    The optimal W3 Total Cache configuration takes into account a number of factors: your theme, your plugins, and the technologies available on the server, Since everyone’s site and traffic and theme, is different, there is no one size fits all solution. Therefore, any out of the box configuration would most likely break most of the websites.
    W3 Total Cache is the most powerful and feature-packed Caching plugin available and most of the features needed for the optimal configuration are free.
    We would be happy to assist you with any issues you are experiencing, however, I am not seeing any topic started regarding your issues or any emails via the support channel.
    As for the issues described, yes in some cases, and that depends mostly on the server configuration, there are some leftover files.
    By the things you described, either the .htaccess still contains the BC rules, or you have some other caching solution installed or a server-side caching.
    Once W3 Total Cache is disabled, no caching files should be served to the users.
    Again we would be more than happy to assist you with any issues but more information is need on your setup.

    Hello @vmarko , sorry for my angry reaction on review. This plugim just cused some troubles that were hard to find after uninstall.

    .htaccess was clear, server side caching not active & server rebooted.

    Problems seem to disappear after manual uninstall and cleaning the DB values ‘w3tc…’ afterwards.

    Plugin works great in terms of configuration and variety. Real life work not that smooth.

    No problem. I understand that sometimes it can get frustrating.
    Thank you for the information. As explained in our documentation, DB Cache is not worth using or Shared server and caching to disk.
    Disk-based caching should only be used when your site requires many expensive database queries, or your MySQL server is extremely slow. Using disk-based Database Caching is generally not recommended as it is usually slower than relying solely on MySQL to process queries as they are requested.
    So memory-based caching is recommended when it comes to OC or DB caching.
