    The proper link is

    <a href="https://mysite.com/pagename/#some-unique-name">Link to the heading</a>

Well this isn’t working. I can’t figure out how to write this post without the coding I’m using rendering once I submit the post.

Can anyone explain the process of creating a jump link from one pg of my site to another? I specifically want to link to an h3 or even make the jump to just before the h3; either would work just fine.

    Thanks!

    Hey Steve,
Thanks for your reply. I don’t understand what you’re saying.

Could you please explain the actual process?

Is the coding for my text link correct?

Where exactly would I put the coding you’ve mentioned?

I explained how to make the link.

If you want to add the anchor for the link in your page, use the plugin “TinyMCE Advanced” and set it to add the anchor icon to your editor toolbar. Then, you just click to add the link target.

When you make a link, you will still need to recall the ID you used and add the #link to the URL you’re entering for the link.

Isn’t there a way to do it without using a plugin?

Yes — you can enter it manually, as noted above. No plugins are necessary, though when I make site for clients, I add a shortcode like [anchor name="the-anchor-name"] so they can just insert an anchor easily (and visibly) in the text. If you’d like put add that shortcode to your site, you can grab the code here: https://github.com/sterndata/sdsplugin/blob/master/sterndata-plugin.php#L136

Please do not edit earlier posts — you removed my corrections to the way you entered it here. Use the “code” button above to mark out how you’ve entered it.

Maybe this can explain it better:

Thanks for your help Steven. I’ll check out the post you linked to and try again.

Sorry about editing our your corrections; I was in the middle of editing my original post when you were sending your first reply. I had no idea anyone would respond so quickly.
