Jump Anchors from another page

I have WP installed on my server and everything up and running. I have a sidebar on every page with some items listed on them. It is supped to work that when you click on one of them, it goes to a certain page (either service or classes) and jumps to the right section.
Right now, I only have the last sidebar item with the “right” code in it REIKI. The service page had an anchor on it marked “reiki”.
When you click the link, though, it jumps to the correct page, but not down to the right section. The permalink seems to be stripping the anchor part of the URL off.
I have tried it with “service#reiki” and “service/#reiki” and neither works. The latter seems to work when you are on the Service page already, but not from another page. Some of these links will jump to the Classes page as well.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
