• Hi there,

We are experiencing an issue when saving pages in Gutenberg. If a “ghostkit/button” block is on the page, and an icon was added to the button, then the page doesn’t save and Gutenberg gives us this error message:

Publishing failed. The response is not a valid JSON response.

If I add the button without an icon, it saves correctly.

I suspect the reason is how the SVG is encoded, but not 100% sure. Can you please check it, too?

Both WP and Ghostkit are the latest versions.

    Thanks,
    Ervin

    Hey Ervin.

It is possible that there is a conflict between 3rd-party plugins or the theme, as I am unable to reproduce this bug locally. Can you check it on a fresh WordPress installation?

    Regards, nK.

    Hi nK,

I deactivated the other plugins one-by-one and turned out that there’s indeed a conflict with the WordFence Security plugin.

If it’s turned off, saving happens correctly.

    Hey Ervin.

Unfortunately, I still can’t reproduce this issue locally. I have also checked all WordFence settings and can’t find anything related to SVG protection or sanitation. We need to take another look at this issue.

    Regards, nK.

    Hi nK,

Thank you for taking care of this issue.

Strange that you couldn’t replicate it. Maybe it is related to our server settings, too? (however, the issue comes up only when WordFence is active)

Btw. as a workaround we can edit/save that page by turning WordFence temporarily off.

    Thanks,
    Ervin

    Hey Ervin.

I don’t have enough experience with WordFence, maybe I missing some settings, or maybe your server adds advanced configs when WordFence is active.

Can you create a private ticket in our support system in the “Bug Reports” category? https://nk.ticksy.com/

    Regards, nK.
