I’ve been trying to set up a review for the past few days and keep coming up with a JSON error. I’ve tested regular posts and don’t have this error coming up, only when I try to make a review in Recencio.

Was there an error with the latest update since this happened after I updated the plugin on Monday?

    Hello @proudbookreviews

Can you provide me with some specifics as to what is the exact error message, where is it displayed and when does it show up?

It pops up whenever it tries to autosave, force save or publish. It pops up in a red alert banner across the top of the page just under the bar where the “preview” and “publish” buttons are.

I can’t remember the exact wording (just woke up and I’m on my mobile) but it’s along the lines of “a JSON error has occurred and is unable to save”.

I really can’t say what the issue could be as the plugin doesn’t create, use or interact with JSON data when saving reviews.

It’s weird coz I tested posts (regular WordPress posts) and I didn’t have that issue. I’ve already tried a few fixes online and none of them have worked so I honestly don’t understand what it could be.

Is the error message “a JSON error has occurred and is unable to save”? I need the exact message to assist me with location the source of this error and possible solutions.

Also, is your website using a page builder such as Divi, Visual Composer or Elementor? Or Gutenberg? They all rely on JSON to work.

Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response.

That’s the error I got. Was finally able to sit down on my laptop to get that. I do use Elementor Pro, I’m not sure if the latest update came through between the last 2 reviews I’ve set up as I didn’t have any issues with the previous review. Only this latest review.

    Hello @proudbookreviews

I have been trying to recreate this specific issue on my test site with Elementor installed but I could not.

Based on my research it is related to how Elementor saves its template markup but I am not familiar enough with it code to try and figure this out.

I can only suggest you contact Elementor’s support for assistance with this.
