I have a new site, not yet launched, and a couple of plugins that don’t seem to play well together. It’s caused an error that doesn’t seem to go away even with the plugins disabled. I am not a coder, so I’m not sure if I’ll even be able to follow a fix, but I figure it’s worth a try. My site is a current jumbled mess, so I’d really rather not include a link unless it’s necessary to fix the problem. I’m currently using Ultimatum, with visual composer and visual composer addon. I started using wp-mlm plugin, which made vc go buggy, until eventually the site wouldn’t load at all. I started fresh with a new theme (still using vc and Ultimatum framework), but the site is still buggy and doesn’t show the coding elements that I add. None of these plugins are supported well so I’m at a loss.

I followed a wordpress tutorial to look for js issues. Firefox gave me a complete novel of issues. Chrome just had one error line: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘indexOf’ of undefined info-circle.js?ver=3.9.1:1

I’m hoping that’s something even I can fix. Any takers? Thanks in advance!

  • We really need to site address to be of much use.
Suggest that you install firebug, the console there can show you javascript issues.

Thanks so much. I installed firebug, which looks awesome if you’re not a coding dweeb like me. I’ll go ahead and post the link, but please don’t judge. It’s awful.

Here’s what I’ve narrowed it down to:
I can’t activate these two plugins at the same time: Visual Composer Addons & wp-mlm. The site just runs and locks me out of my admin panel until I go into my cp and change out plugin folders. Visual composer (not the addon) and wp-mlm can operate together. However, vc doesn’t pull in the css (with or without the wp-mlm plugin), so the site has no styling. I’ve tried different (ultimatum) themes, but have the same issue. Also, when VC addon was working, (before the non-styling issue started) the icon manager was being buggy. Oh, and the vs front-end editor won’t load. So clearly it has its issues.

So I’m tempted to start fresh on a new framework that doesn’t use vc. If, however, there is a simple scripting error that would allow me to proceed I would be very pleased. Thanks again for your help!

(To be clear to someone who happens upon this looking for info on visual composer, I think it’s a great product and they do offer support, but I got mine as a component to Ultimatum, which is also a pretty good product but currently not offering anywhere near adequate support).

(currently my only active plugins are visual composer and wp-mlm)

I see the issue, somehow what is supposed to be inline CSS is getting displayed. I suggest that you ditch those plugins and start again with new choices. Try the native wordpress environment first and only adopt plugins, one by one and make sure they are worth the trouble.

Thanks Ross – have already started that path. Though I have to say I started with the native environment a while back. In theory I would love to make it work, I found it a little too challenging with my limited coding skills. I love the drag-n-drop since it allows me to use my design skills without sweating over the coding.
