Jowra Photographs – WP-Photolog

  • After the CSS-Reboot Spring 2006 I finally redesigned my Photolog in the style of my Journal. Using Folderblog for my Photolog more than a year, I switched to WordPress now, added some AJAX and Effects.

    There are still some enhencements to come, but I’m happy with the result so far and I’ve managed even to keep the URL-Structure of my old Photolog.

    If you encounter any problems, errors or have some tips for me… please write it down. ??

    And would it make sense to release this theme?

  • wow.. I’ve just seen this and I sure would love this to be released. IT’s amazing.

    Great theme! One suggestion though: there is too much white space above the photo so on a 15inch screen one has to scroll down to see it all. If you remove some of the white space then the entire photo will be visible visout scrolling.

    any chance that you could release this photoblog as a theme for wordpress or that you can tell us which plugins you’re using and maybe write down a short tutorial howto create a page like this?

    Hi Hans,

    I want to release it since long time ago. I’ve hacked my theme, which isn’t a big problem, except for the thumbnail-generation. For that I’ve modified some wordpress core files for that, but that means all the changes must be redone after an upgrade.

    I’m still looking for a simple, a really simple plugin that gives the possibility to set up cropped square thumbnails. But all I found where numerous plugins for galleries, image browsers and so on.

    I think a change in the upload-features of wordpress is planed for the release of wordpress 2.2, but who knows when this will arrive? ??

    So, the release of my template isn’t a big deal. With some instructions it is quite usable, but it wouldn’t produce these square thumbnails, only the standard ones that wordpress generates.

    I’ll keep you informed on that one.

    I have always liked your work (theme and art) so no surprise here.

    I really do like your main page theme, nice clean layout. Is that totally custom or based on something else?

    Yes. It’s written from scratch.

    I will release it in the near future. There are some things to change like the del.icio.us part and the photo-section and so on. That must be more general for a theme. I’m working on that.
