    Hi there,

I am experiencing slow Ajax load times on my website: https://www.boolerang.co.uk.

Specifically, it is when the jobs are loading. The practical issue with this is that when candidates visit the site, they are likely to scroll down past the map (since the listings have not loaded so the map is yet to populate), thus defeating the point of the map and rendering it somewhat pointless.

When I visit the Jobify demo site (https://demo.astoundify.com/jobify/) I do not experience slow loading of the listings, nor slow populating of the map.

Therefore, I tested both sites on GTMetrix, and for my site, I noticed this AJAX item, which always takes ages: https://boolerang.co.uk/?wc-ajax=get_refreshed_fragments

For my site, this was 1.47 seconds. For the jobify demo site, this was just 147ms. Do you think this is behind my extremely slow loads?

Am extremely keen to fix this issue. Could you please perhaps try and explain/shed some light on this?

    Thanks! Happy New Year!

    Ed

Addition: When tested on Pingdom, there is this item “https://boolerang.co.uk/jm-ajax/get_listings/”, which takes up approximately 80% of the load time -16 seconds in my most recent test!

I just tested your site on GTmetrix myself, and it wasn’t as bad as you mentioned. 5 second total load time. Pingdom was even faster as 2.8 seconds.

Is it better for you now as well?

If not, I’d suggest perhaps cutting back on the number of jobs you’re showing on the front page, since each one of those needs pulled out of the database.

If you’re concerned about the map, well, WP Job Manager itself doesn’t generate that. Your theme is the thing doing it, so I’d reach out to their support folks here:

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with! ?? Thanks!

    Hi Adam,

Thank you for your response. I’m not sure those testing sites consider the population of the markers on the map? Regardless, the site still seems to be struggling. The geolocation doesn’t seem to affect the Jobify demo page, so that doesn’t seem like something that should present issues.

Is there any chance you could please take a deeper look at this? Would reinstalling the WP plugins help? Happy to send over my WP/FTP details if necessary.

    Thanks,

    Ed

I don’t know how much help I can be really. ?? I’m no web performance expert, and since there isn’t anything that’s actually broken, I don’t think any solution I offer will do you much good.

I talked with the Jobify support folks about it though, and they suggested the same thing: show fewer jobs on the first page. It makes the markers slow to load since they can’t show up until the jobs are done loading. Longer list of jobs == longer time to load markers.

    Thanks!

    Hello

I have the same problem, jm-ajax/get_listings/ take 1.6s to load.
londontechy, did you find something to speed that ?

    Thanks
