• JIGOSHOP: What are the plans for a zip code tax calculator, or does anyone know of an extension or plugin? I realize you can add a tax rule by sate, but when you deal with certain states and countries, we’re talking pages and pages of separate zip code tax percentages and then updating those every year. *For example, Los Angeles is 10% but Santa Monica is 9.5%. This link provides JUST the CA sales tax rates according to zip codes. https://www.sale-tax.com/California

I have checked all the plugins, and searched all the forums–the last comment about this was from July of 2013 and the mention of fixing it was from 2011. Woocommerce has several of these plugins; I would assume by now Jigoshop would.

Up until now, we have included our tax in our prices, but in restructuring our finances, it is necessary for the tax rates.

    Please help.

    I believe that’s offered in this plugin….. https://www.jigoshop.com/product/premium-shipping/

Just out of curiosity. Have you looked into the tax law? We looked into it and was told we have to charge tax to ca customers. We charge the tax rate in which the city we are incorporated – chatswoth. There fore we don’t use zip codes.
    Have you read differently?

HA! You are in Chatsworth–we’re in Reseda! Out of all the places someone would respond….love it.

I have read the tax blogs and articles–it seems no one really knows what’s going on state to state, district to district. I’m surprised more people aren’t chatting about all of this. It is my understanding that as of now (and PLEASE correct me if I’m wrong), there is no tax on an Internet sale unless you are in a state where it is mandatory to pay–as we are living in CA. The confusing part remains: When you make a sale on the Internet to anywhere in CA outside the district, you could pay the state tax rate based on the state rate of 7.25, not the distract tax. If you sell to someone in your district, you pay the district sale; for us, it’s 9%. If I sell to someone in Iowa (I’m guessing here) then there is no sales tax??? THEN, to complicate our lives…we vend at fairs and festivals (“physical presence law” perhaps?) in different areas of CA so we then have to look up the tax rate for the area we are in that day. I feel like I have read maybe toooo much information that it is all getting jumbled.

INCREDIBLE! Any advice or suggestions? *I could share links I found online that offer information. Thank you for writing back, neighbor!
