Suddenly I lost functionality of jetpack (no stats, no sharing etc…) after using it for 3 yrs roughly.

It appeared something had updated/changed and I had a new interface showing up. The message it gave me was: “The registration secrets sent by your site do not match the ones the Jetpack server has on record.”

I could not make an account, I could not connect. On wordpress.com everything was gone concerning my site (which has a non-wordpress domain).

    Any suggestions? Any questions?

Yesterday suddenly my jetpack installation went down. My own debugging showed that WP Cerber (hardening “Deny access to XML-RPC server (including Pingbacks en Trackbacks)”) does the trick. When disabled everything works fine.

    Any comment?
    Why suddenly now?

But now I got jetpack back I still have the following malfunctions:

    1) No sharingbuttons
    2) No twittertimeline widget (sidebar)

Jetpack does indeed requires access to your site’s XML-RPC file, as it uses that file to communicate with WordPress.com. Access to that file has been required since Jetpack was first released.

Is it possible that WP Cerber was configured differently on your site until recently?

    1) No sharingbuttons

Could you go to Settings > Sharing in your dashboard and make sure the sharing buttons are properly configured?

    2) No twittertimeline widget (sidebar)

Can you see the widget under Appearance > Widgets? Is it configured?

If you can’t seem to understand what is wrong with your settings, could you post your site URL here so I can have a look?

    Thanks for the reply.

No,I did not change my configuration recently. The difference in behaviour came out of the blue. Just after publication of a 4000 word blog which I set to publish on a certain time, normally I do not do that. Normally I just publish directy. It is a small blog, I am the only person managing/writing.

    1) wrt config of the buttons: they are switched on but if I go to the configuration of the buttons I arrive at the page to configure something but it is blank -> https://wordpress.com/sharing/buttons/www.nietnaarsantiago.nl

    2) I can see the widget and I can configure it but it does not show in the sidebar (nor anywhere else).

What happens if you go to Settings > Sharing in your dashboard? Do you have any issues there?

It does appear on my end.

Could you make sure you’re not using a browser extension that may block access to Twitter and other tracking scripts? That may be what’s stopping Twitter from appearing on your end.

    1) Settings > Sharing , I am missing some services there. See https://i.imgur.com/jZY9QHz.jpg

    2) I can use twitter normally, All my other services are working. It is that suddenly – and I really did not install/delete anything neither front- nor back-end – it stopped working properly. So, yes, I tried Chrome and there it all works.

I send this message, try FF without add-ons and report the result here.

So, yes, everything is working properly in FF now (https://i.imgur.com/dMBNREC.jpg). So the problem is in FF and nowhere else. That is disturbing. Sorry to have bothered you, thanks for the guidance. I’ll work it out.

It must be the big change in FF they are working on.

And FYI: it was windscribe add-on which caused the problem. Being activated as add-on was enough. The VPN activated or not makes no difference.

Excellent, I’m glad to hear you’re all set!

Did you also figure things out with the Sharing settings as well?

    Yes. Everything is OK.
