• Seems like there is an issue with the Jetpack Mail subscriptions module, or rather a conflict with a certain setting under settings > discussion settings:

    For a while now, when someone used the subscriptions module, they did not receive any verification E-Mails. I tested it myself with different mail addresses: no response in my inbox!

    After a lot of searching, I tried to uncheck the “Comment author must have a previously approved comment” box under settings > discussion settings > before a comment appears, and saved the change.

    Now the issue seems to be gone. I tested the comment form again – and it’s working.

    So, this would happen while using the Jetpack Comments module, in combination with the subscription module? And then on wp-admin/options-discussion.php#jetpack-subscriptions-settings you have one or both of the Subscriptions boxes checked off, correct?

    @ Richard: Thanks for getting in touch so quickly.

    In fact I am using the Jetpack Blog Subscriptions (german: Jetpack Blog Abonnements) widget in the sidebar, and I have activated the Disqus comments module. Jetpack comments module is not activated.
