Jetpack Subscriptions Not Sending Confirmation Email

One of my clients has been trying to sign up via the Jetpack Subscription widget and she never gets the confirmation email. I only know about this problem because she contacted me offline. I have tried to enter her address myself and yet she never gets the confirmation. We have searched her “trash” and “junk” email folders too.

Her email address is penny**@consolidated.net. (I have substituted the last two characters of her email address for her privacy).
Now I am worried that I am not getting new subscribers because they never get the confirmation email.
