    Hi there,

We were having a problem with a new dev site for blogs.jwatch.org/hiv-id-observations, it seemed to be hijacking the subscription service. Posts made to the dev site, were being sent to subscribers, even though the dev site does not have the subscription widget enabled. In debugging this, I found that the live site had an error showing on the appearance>widget for subscriptions:

401: Jetpack: [auth_failed] Authorization header was malformed.

The obvious thing to me was to disconnect jetpack and reconnect; and that did seem to get rid of that 400 error… however all the site stats are missing, and I’m concerned that the subscriptions might be lost as well. Can we check on that?

    Thank you,
    Andrea

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Your stats and subscribers did indeed get transferred over to your dev site instance in that process.

I have fixed the issue, and you should be able to get your Stats and Subscribers back by going to the Jetpack menu in your dashboard, and disconnecting / reconnecting to WordPress.com. You can disconnect your site from your WordPress.com account thanks to the link at the bottom of that page.

In the future, I would also recommend that you enable Jetpack’s development mode on your dev site, as explained here:

Thank you so much, that did the trick.
