Jetpack subscription email not working
-
Jetpack and the subscription feature were working fine for me until a couple of weeks ago when it just stopped sending out emails for no apparent reason. Now each time I do a post no email goes out. Any ideas please?
Thanks… Andrew

Activated and deactivated the subscription feature. Still doesn’t work. Time to find an alternative, it seems.
I am missing a few subscription mails from posts in recent days. The latest mail that was generated from my posts was on 12 Sept. Jetpack is on latest version.
I’ve just had the same issue since updating to the new version. Don’t like the new way it gives stats either. Much preferred the old.
How now to send out posts to subscribers to have not received them?
Help please jetpack
I’m having the same issue of not receiving email for my post published yesterday on halfempty4now.com
I used to use FeedBurner for subscriptions, am still subscribed, and did receive that email. But no sign of the email from the Jetpack subscription.
@mr-z-1 @hterh @amazingsusan @tphil Could you contact us via this contact form, and give us a few examples of the posts where your subscribers didn’t receive an email, as well as some examples of email addresses that should have received something, but didn’t?
Thanks!
Still broken.
Jeremy, I went to the contact page and sent you a message. The other issue I have is that I posted something Password Protected and it went out to all my subscribers. I don’t want Password protected posts to go to my subscribers. It defeats the whole purpose ??

That’s indeed the expected behaviour. Your subscribers won’t receive the post content, though; here is what they’ll see:
https://i.wpne.ws/hdEBIf your readers seem to receive the whole post content via email, let us know when we reply to the message you sent us: that’s definitely something we’d need to look at!
Thanks!
I know that’s what they see, but it doesn’t make sense to send PW protected posts to readers. People are generally not very smart – they click on the email link and go to the post anyway because the title grabs them and then they don’t have a password. Then they wonder why they don’t have a password, then the feel cheated, then they want a password, why don’t I have a PW they wonder? Aren’t I special enough? then they get pissed off.
I makes no sense whatsoever to send an email to readers telling them they need a pw to view a post. I really wish you would change that, because it is protecting something with a PW is now completely useless to me unless i use if for an old post and why would I do that?
Thanks
I just wrote a new post, and Jetpack did not send out notification emails. In order to get Jetpack to send them out, I had to roll back to version 4.1.1 (using the WP Rollback plugin ??
Also, very strange things have been happening with people trying to subscribe lately. When they enter their email address and click “subscribe,” Jetpack tells them they’ve unsubscribed (opted out). Then they send me an email and complain about it.
It seems Jetpack is having some major problems with the last few updates. I hope you can get it working; I’ve been using it for three years and was always very happy with it.
@amazingsusan Thanks for the extra details. Going back and change that default behaviour for everyone may be difficult today, as it would confuse a lot of people relying on Jetpack Subscriptions to send out their password-protected posts to subscribers. However, you could use the
jetpack_allow_per_post_subscriptions
filter as a work-around:
https://jetpack.com/2016/02/10/hook-month-control-subscriptions/It will add a checkbox to your post editor, that you can use to select posts that you don’t want your readers to receive via email.
I hope this helps.
@matildarose Could you send us more information about your site via this form, so we can take a closer look?
Thanks!
Awesome. Thanks Jeremy; I really appreciate that. I also appreciate that you added the capability to download subscribers to .csv though no idea when that was done.
One thing that would be super useful to me is to have the capability to resend “old” posts to subscribers so newer subscribers can be exposed to archives without having to create new posts. If that’s possible, that would be great. Thanks again.

That’s not possible right now. While that could indeed be a useful feature, it could also be abused and used by spammers and resend lots of posts to subscribers. If we ever decide to implement that feature, we’ll need to add some strong anti-spam features to avoid such issues.
Thanks for the feedback!
My view of that is that it would self regulate. People who spam their subscribers don’t have subscribers for very long; they simply unsubscribe. And if someone is going to spam, they can do it simply by creating and posting new posts with increased frequency, or cloning their posts and changing the URLS. There are many ways around it. But conscientious bloggers such as myself don’t do stuff like that. We want to keep and grow our subscriber base, not annoy subscribers, which is why the PW workaround is great – I won’t be annoying my subscribers with posts they can see.
Thanks for letting me know if and when you decide to add the feature.

People would indeed eventually unsubscribe, but before they do so, email providers like Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail may react to the spam, and decide to start blacklisting and marking as spam all emails that come from WordPress.com servers. That would impact the spammers, but also all real bloggers like you. That’s what we have to keep in mind when implementing new features. Unfortunately, spammers never go away. ??
