Jetpack stats lost (duplicated accounts)
-
Hi.
I was developing a new theme for my self-hosted wordpress locally on my machine. Later, when it was done, I installed the new theme online at my current domain https://joiasdavida.com and then, upgraded my old “WordPress.com Stats” plugin to Jetpack. When I did this, Jetpack started to count all the stats form scratch, and I thought that all my data (since 2008) was lost.
However, when I logged in to WordPress.com, I noticed the weirdest thing happened!Somehow, Jetpack was able to track my local development version of the website, the one I have installed in my Mac with Xampp, and placed all my old stats in that account, and created another account for my REAL domain https://joiasdavida.com starting it from zeros.
HOW ON EARTH, was jetpack able to find my development version of the website. It’s not connected to online wold in any way. Search Engines cannot find it, for it’s a local version only!!! No computer can access the local site unless they are in the same network as me, How did Jetpack do this ???
I’ve read in the forums the Jetpack is domain based. Great So why did it grab all my stats from my real domain joiasdavida.com and placed them inside a new account for my development local domain that only resides in my machine ??
Shouldn’t it create a new account for my development site and keep the all the old stats with the same domain joiasdavida.com??? Why all the data was ported over??And what can I do to get this data back to the right account?
Please help me.The blog I need help with is joiasdavida.com.
