When I routinely visit the JetPack stats for my site, keptlight.com, the first load of the stats screen shows that there are no stats available for that period even though it momentarily flashes today’s visits. A refresh of the screen reveals the actual stats. Everything is OK until the next morning. It happens on my laptop and desktop using Firefox browser. I am reporting it just in case it may be important for you to know. This has been going on for a long time but just today I got around to creating a screen capture video to show you the behavior.

I tried it with the browser all the extensions disabled but that did not seem to change the initial screen.

    Mainly for your information.

    Hi there,

Thank you for sharing the screen capture! I wasn’t able to replicate this issue on my end. So, you mentioned that this occurs on both your laptop and desktop using Mozilla. Have you checked to see if this also happens when using a different browser such as Chrome or Safari?

Also, what version of Firefox are you using, and are you on a Mac or PC?

    Thanks,

Firefox is the latest version, I am on Windows 10 with all the updates applied. I thought I tried it on other browsers but I am not sure. I will try tomorrow morning and report. As I said, this is mainly FYI, refreshing the screen is not a bother for me. I will update tomorrow again.

    Hi Cemal,

I regularly encounter this in Firefox, for my WordPress.com sites as well. Also occasionally, especially if my computer had gone to sleep in the meantime, I’d navigate to the posts list and it would show I have no posts, only updating after I refresh.

What I suspect is that the site loads in the browser, but for some reason the API call that fetches the data via WordPress.com’s REST API times out.

This isn’t an issue with the Jetpack plugin, though, but with WordPress.com’s Calypso dashboard.

@kokkieh, thank you for confirming and identifying the problem. And, it DOES happen with Chrome as well:

Interestingly, if I use my MS Surface Pro 6 this does not happen. At least, others who may experience the same and worry may find the answer here. Maybe, Calypso music needs to be samba!

Thanks for letting me know it happens in Chrome as well. I’ll see if I can find a way to consistently replicate this, then I’ll report it to the Calypso devs ??

Thank you for fixing it! It now loads on the first access.
