Jetpack spam protection possible by iThemes Security?

This is not directly your plugin problem, but it might be a new good protection for many sites.

Plugin Jetpack allows to send spam (yes, it’s reported) via sharing by e-mail button:
https://site/page/?share=email&nb=1
This can be protected by ReCaptcha for the moment (no other solution).

But on the other hand the spammers make many many (thousands per day) unwanted connections to site and server sending spam can be blacklisted.
Question: can you detect such Jetpack’s problem on site it and block (ban) if there is plenty connections from one IP?
