Jetpack shortcode in subscribe

It says the subscribe content accepts shortcodes but using [jetpack_subscription_form] just displays the shortcode in the subscribe box. Anything I might be missing? I tested the shortcode in a post and it worked fine.
Maybe this is an issue with jetpack not allowing shortcodes to work in through plugins?
