    Hi,

I cloned a site and created a test site. On the admin site I get a message saying that “jetpack has been placed into Safe mode because we noticed this is an exact copy…” when I click on confirm safe mode I get an error saying “something went wrong try again.”

Any thoughts what the issue could be that is causing the error message – BTW trying again does not work.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there,

This happened because in cloning your site you also caused a duplicate Jetpack connection to be created for the same site, and Jetpack has no way of knowing which one is your actual site and which one is the clone.

You can see an overview of Safe mode here:

    https://jetpack.com/support/safe-mode/

Are you clicking Confirm Safe Mode in the dashboard for https://millado4congress.com/, or in the dashboard for the cloned site?

Hello @kokkieh. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Oh, hmmm. that’s not good. I was in the cloned site when I tried to confirm “Safe Mode”. Should I be confirming from the dashboard of the live website?

I read through https://jetpack.com/support/safe-mode/ a couple of times before I found this Forum but went back to see if there was something that I overlooked about the cause or action to take when receiving this error message. There isn’t one. I know I came across a thread in this forum before adding my own comment, but the answer was not provided on the thread.

Any help would be greatly appreciated because I’m not sure how to get past this hurdle.

Hi, you would want to Confirm Safe Mode on the duplicate site that is currently in Safe Mode. If you’re still getting an error, can you reach out directly to support so they can sort this out with authorization from your account?

Also, can you ensure your plugin is up to date?

Hello @supernovia. I double checked but yes the JetPack plugin is up to date. And yes, the issue takes place when I’m in the staging/duplicate site dashboard. I’ll try their direct support. Thanks for responding.

Hello. Via email we were directed to update WordPress and the JetPack plugin, disconnect JetPack and then reconnect it to the website to WordPress.

We’ve completed all those steps as previously instructed. The same error message still occurred after attempting to confirm Safe Mode. Today we removed the staging site and started over from scratch. After creating the new staging site, the “Confirm Safe Mode” still renders the same results. Please advise.

If you have an email open on this I’d advise you to continue there, as they’re able to do more through direct support.

Agreed @supernovia. But they didn’t respond, so I came back to this support forum to follow up. As of today, they still haven’t responded. Where can support/help for this issue be found?

Are you able to see the one sit enow without errors?

Hello @supernovia, thank you for responding and addressing the issue. I just tried clicking “Confirm Safe Mode” and it did not produce the error message.
