Jetpack Related Posts on bbPress Pages

Hi @mcyger, to clarify, are you hoping to display a blog’s related post on the BBPress page in a widget?

Or, are you hoping Jetpack will also index posts from bbPress and display related topics?

My preference would be to recommend blogs that are related to the bbPress thread topic.

If that is not possible, then recommending other bbPress posts that are related to the bbPress thread topic would be useful.

Got it, so either way it’d need to be indexing the bbPress threads to figure out what content is related.

It’s not built in right now though, and writing the code to make that work is outside our scope of support.

One thing you *could* do though within the scope of Jetpack & bbPress, without having to do custom development, is use your widget area to display links to relevant articles using Jetpack’s widget visibility > taxonomy. Just display certain articles / links / whatever based on the topic tag.

Jetpack Widget Visibility controls whether or not any widget displays on a given page, even if that widget is just a HTML Hello World. You could have a widget with a cat image, and use visibility to only show that on posts or forum threads tagged “cat” for example.

You can test it by adding a widget to your forum page, then changing the visibility > taxonomy to only display under certain tags.

Developing the entire set of conditions or modifying your forums’ theme to include widgets would indeed be outside our ability to support you, but we can definitely explain our products features as needed. Hoping that helps!
