• I’m in the process of migrating from a WordPress.com site to a self-hosted site. The new site is IP-address-only at this point, because DNS still points to the WordPress.com site.

I can’t seem to register Jetpack. I change accounts to my WordPress.com account and click on Authorize, and it takes me to a blank screen. No error messages. No progress messages. Nothing to tell me why it’s failing.

What’s the trick to getting Jetpack registered?

Finally I’m getting some input, but it’s an error:

Your website needs to be publicly accessible to use Jetpack: site_inaccessible

Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site [IXR -32300: transport error: http_request_failed SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed]

I’m using a self-signed certificate. Is that the problem?
