I am trying to renstall and reconnect Jetpack using the same Google account I used to install it originally but get a message telling me I can’t do this because the account already exists. How do I reconnect using this same account?

Using WordPress GB and Jetpack latest versions as of today.

    thanks

    Laurence

    Hi Ryan,
I’m not sure if my original reply to your message has got through, so I’ll try again..
the site is https://www.wharfedalebka.org.uk, it’s not hosted on WordPress, its hosted by lcn.com

    thanks

    @laurencet thanks for that!

While your site is publicly accessible, we cannot access your site’s XML-RPC file:
    https://www.wharfedalebka.org.uk/xmlrpc.php

This file is used by Jetpack and other plugins and apps to connect to your site. It must return the following message:
XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.

You can see a working example here:
    https://jetpack.com/xmlrpc.php

Since your site returns a 403 Forbidden error for this page, I would recommend that you check the following:

    1. Do you use any security plugins that may block access to this file? If so, could you try to disable them? You might also want to check your site’s .htaccess file for any rules that might be blocking access to the xmlrpc.php file.
    2. Does your hosting provider block access to this file? If you don’t find any plugin that may block access to the file on your site, I would recommend that you get in touch with your host.

Let us know if you still have trouble after restoring access to that file and we’ll be happy to help.

My hosting provider won’t unblock access to xmlrpc so I guess that means Jetpack is not an option for me (and I can’t connect using the WordPress App either, although I used to be able to), so I’ll have to start looking for alternatives.

    Thanks for your help.

Will they whitelist our IP addresses? You can find the full list here:

    https://jetpack.com/support/hosting-faq/

Alternatively, you can also ask them if they can whitelist the user agent Jetpack by WordPress.com instead.

Some hosts won’t fully unblock access to that file but they will allow access for Jetpack and other similar plugins.

    I hope that helps!
