Hi guys, I know Jetpack support isn’t available for a few more days but hopefully someone from the community can help shed some light on this strange behavior I’ve been experiencing with the software.

Under sharing, I have multiple accounts added for Google+ which include one personal and multiple pages. This used to all work and new WP posts would be sent to Google+ as wall posts. Now however, this can only be achieved on personal profile account and not company pages.

You can still add the accounts and it still goes through the same authentication process as before. It also successfully adds the pages onto the list but the posts do not get posted to the business pages.

If you look through the pages however, you can see these same auto posts used to work just fine but at one point they simply stopped appearing.

Any ideas what can be causing this? I’ve checked privacy settings, security settings, and several other areas to no avail. I’ve disconnected and reconnected the accounts through WP as well as the settings which can be found at https://plus.google.com/apps and none of this has helped.

Any helps would be greatly appreciated as I’ve literally done the same thing over and over again and still no result. The only thing I’ve been able to achieve is to have WP share onto my personal Google+ page which still goes under the company but is not a company page.

    Thank you,

    Vitaliy

  • Following this topic as I’d love a solution!

Also following to receive an update on once we have a solution.

    Same here

Until yesterday, Publicize shared fine and the post was public on my google+ page. After a connection glitch when I had to reconnect Publicize to Google+, the auto-shared post was private again on the page and as you said above, I also wasted one hour to look for the privacy setting so that my auto-shared posts are shared public and not just for me. The privacy setting for the apps has disappeared.

Looking forward for a fix to this! Great feature and plugin!

    Thanks,

    Hi everyone,

    I have good news!

A few weeks ago, Google+ made some changes to their API. In doing so introduced some issues with Publicize. The module still worked, but the updates posted by the WordPress app on your Google+ Profile or Google+ Page were only visible to you.

In the past few weeks, we’ve worked with Google+ to start using a new API. That API works just like the old one, with one exception: publicized posts are now public. You can’t change the visibility of publicized posts to “My Circles”, or anything else.

If you’re happy to have Publicize publishing public posts to your Google+ Profile or Page, you can follow the instructions below to delete your old connection, and then reconnect your Jetpack site to your Google+ account:
    https://jetpack.com/support/publicize/google/#reconnecting

    I hope this helps.

So you only need to disconnect and reconnect the API. But it only works when your Google+ settings are “public”.
What if they’re NOT public. Can you tell me how to change that? If possible at all.

@hansopanso That’s not an option anymore; Google+ doesn’t allow third-party apps to post updates that are only visible to some of your circles anymore. If you’d like to post updates that will only be visible to some people in your Google+ Circles, you’ll need to post those updates manually I’m afraid.

@jeherve Thanks for your quick response.
I was afraid you were going to say that. Just refreshed several Google+ API’s. They used to publish publicly. So now I’ll have to wait and see what happens when I place a new post…..
Still a big fan of jetpack b.t.w.!

Glad to hear this was resolved.
At the time the only way to make this work was to connect to a personal Google+ account.
If one was trying to connect to a Google+ business page, nothing would work and as Jeremy Herve @jeherve mentioned earlier, all posts could only be seen by you (self).

Sorry for the belated response, I rarely check the inbox attached to WP Forums.

Again, glad it was worked out.

Ive just noticed that all the posts I previously published through Publicize were for some reason shared privately. How do I change them all to public?

I think you have to reshare them..

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

That’s correct, you’ll need to reshare them. Google+ doesn’t allow you to change visibility of posts previously published via a third-party app.

To make sure your future posts are published publicly, you’ll want to reset your Publicize connection as explained here:
    https://jetpack.com/support/publicize/google/#reconnecting

I was about to publicize my google and found your thread. I will wait to publicize it until I receive notice of the fix. Thanks much for the heads up.
