Using JetPack v2.3.5

Since yesterday, I think, links produced by Publicize and pushed to my facebook page are malformed. Essentially, they seem to be missing out categories (which are part of the permalink path structure) and include a facebook suffix.

I think the suffix is usually there, anyway, but is normally hidden.

As an example, if I were to post an article with the URL:

https://www.moshville.co.uk/news/2013/08/test-4/

…then the related facebook post has a link such as:

https://www.moshville.co.uk/2013/08/test-4/?fb_source=pubv1

I have removed and re-added my facebook account from the Publicize settings (as detailed elsewhere), which did not help. I also checked and clicked “Save Settings” in my General and Permalink settings in WordPress, just in case they needed a “nudge”.

At least I have spotted that I’m not alone with this problem, and that it affects Twitter as well (though I don’t use that function so wouldn’t have spotted it myself), so at least I know it’s not an issue with facebook itself.

Obviously changing our permalink structurwe at this stage is not an option. Is it worth backtracking to an earlier version of Jetpack?

I’m afraid that won’t help, since the problem doesn’t appear to be linked to a change in the Jetpack plugin files. We’re still looking into the problem, and I’ll post again here as soon as we find a solution.

I am having the same issue with a clients site.

i created a post named test.
the link on fb does not contain the category so it gives a 404.

i have already tried the reconnecting on facebook
and added a featured image
please let me know how to fix this

I’ve been having the same problem for more than a week. Neither of the tests are working, whatever I change.

You don’t need to do anything, we have fixed the problem on our end, on the Jetpack servers.

Hi there, I still have the problem. Links that are published trough Publicise on Facebook don’t have thumbnail. Also I noticed that they are recognized as website link not as an article. It all started 3 days ago. All posts before, when their links are pasted into Facebook, have thumbnail shown, and after that posts during the last 3 days are corrupted and don’t show properly on Facebook. Here is the example:

I tried to disconnect Jetpack few times, I checked for bad plugins but found nothing. Please can you help because this error is so irritating.

@themightym Your problem is different from the issue mentioned above. It seems that your site currently blocks the Facebook bot from crawling your site.

You can see what Facebook sees by entering one of your posts’ URLs in Facebook Debugger:

https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object?q=http%3A%2F%2Fnokiamob.me%2F2013%2F08%2F25%2Fdostupna-nova-verzija-whatsapp-aplikacije-za-s40-nokia-uredaje-5%2F

This 403 error appears because Facebook isn’t able to crawl the page to gather information for the post previews.
If you use a security plugin that blocks access to your site in any way, you will want to configure it to allow access to the Facebook bot.

If you do not use such plugin, I would suggest that you contact your hosting provider to let them know about the issue.
