I’m pretty sure this was asked thousand of times, or there is an answer in the FAQs somewhere, but the thing is, I wasn’t able to find anything, sorry.

Anyway, the problem is this: I’ve just installed jetpack on a blog i’m working on in my local machine. When I look at the list of funcions jetpack has to offer, about half of them are impossible to activate. I thought those feature were, like, “Premium” and you have to pay for them to activate them. However many on the internet states that Jetpack is completly free (with the only exception of Data Backup), no one mentions “paid” or “premium” features.

Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

    Thanks.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Since you’re working locally, your site cannot communicate with the outside world, and Jetpack’s Development mode was consequently automatically enabled for you:
    https://jetpack.me/support/development-mode/

That mode allows you to use all the Jetpack features that do not require a connection to WordPress.com. The ones that do require a connection will remain grayed out until your site becomes publicly accessible, i.e. when your site is live.

    I hope this clarifies things!

Yeah thanks, I notice now that on the copy of my site publiced on my company’s public domain, those features are enabled.

    Thanks for clarifying.
