When I publish a new post on my site, Jetpack sends an email. It seems like only recently it started sending my favicon at the top of the email as an image for my post. It looks terrible and my favicon image is not representative of my site logo in my header.

    1) Is the favicon file really what displays in the header?

    2) I’ve brought this up a long time ago with Jetpack support and never seen a change. Is there a way to actually insert the featured image for the post at the top of the email? A downsized version of it so on an email client it would only be 600 or so pixels wide. I’ve started inserting the featured image at the top of my post, publishing, then removing it and publishing again so it goes out in the emails.

    Thanks,

    Oak

    Hi there, @oak3,

I’m going to answer your questions one by one as follows ??

If this is not the icon you’d like to display, you can change if from Customise > Site Identity > Site icon.

Anyways, this favicon is huge and should not display like that in the email header. I checked some of my test sites, and I can’t reproduce the issue.

I’d like to check your site to see if I can gather more information about that. Could you contact us via this contact form and mention this thread?

We don’t have updates about that, and feature images are still not being displayed in emails.

The workaround we came up with is in fact the following: insert the image into your post content using an image block, preferably at the top.

If you don’t want the image to appear twice, or just don’t want it to show up on your site, simply edit the post after you publish it to remove the image block from the post content.

We have reported that also in our public documentation.

Hope that helps and answers your question! Let me know how you get on with the icon issue. Thanks!

I did contact support through that link, but I also verified that the favicon is being used in the header of the emails sent out. I replaced my favicon file with a hi-res 500×500 version and it was sent out in my post email today.
The size in the email is roughly 230×230 pixels. Much clearer than the one shown above in my first email.

Also, I did learn that trick to put the featured image into the post and then immediately delete it. Seems like an easy fix for Jetpack though.

    Hi @oak3

Thanks for letting us know that the issue with the favicon and the featured image is resolved (albeit with a workaround).

I’m glad that you got this sorted out.

I’m going to mark this thread as resolved. If you have additional questions about Jetpack in the future, feel free to open a new thread.
