I enabled the Jetpack custom post types for Portfolio, created three portfolio posts and embedded the shortcode in an existing page. It looks beautiful! By far the best solution for my client’s site as the theme’s portfolio capability only accommodates one portfolio category. However, when I click on a portfolio thumb, I get a 404 error.

I’ve looked at the known plugin conflicts and acknowledge that I have Bulleproof Security installed, but I don’t have the XML-RPC custom code inserted and the WordPress XML-RPC checker came up fine. It’s all green lights in the WordPress debugger, so Jetpack itself is running fine. I looked at the Troubleshooting section at the bottom of the Portfolios documentation page and went through the recommended procedure of unchecking the custom content type, saving, then re-enabling it and saving again…several times, but it has not resolved the issue.

I need help figuring out how to make this work for my client. For the past couple of days I kept getting stuck in a wordpress.com support loop, so every answer I have received so far tells me that they can’t help me since I’m asking for help with a self-hosted site. So if this is also the case with whomever receives this, would you be so kind as to forward my request to comeone who can help me?

    Thank you SO much.

Could you go to settings > Permalinks in your dashboard and try to save your permalink settings once again? Let me know how it goes.

No worries, you’re in the right place now! WordPress.com forum volunteers most likely sent you here since your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, and that is indeed the place to get help with plugins on your self-hosted WordPress site. If you ever need to contact us privately, you can do so here.
