    Hi everyone,

I’ve encountered a perplexing issue with the Jetpack plugin on my WordPress site (https://desavanjaubijeljini.com). Starting today, Jetpack has begun blocking access to the admin area, citing a security concern linked to my IP address. The exact message displayed is:

“Your IP address 185.254.196.81 has been flagged for potential security violations. You can unlock your login by sending yourself a special link via email. Learn More.”

However, there’s a twist: 185.254.196.81 is not my IP address. Furthermore, this error persists regardless of the computer or location from which the admin area is accessed, always pointing to the same IP address.

In an attempt to resolve this, I tried adding define('JETPACK_IP_ADDRESS_OK', '185.254.196.81') to my wp-config file, but to no avail. I also tried deactivating the Jetpack plugin by renaming its folder in the plugins directory, yet the error message remains.

I’m at a loss as to what’s causing this issue or how to fix it. It seems like Jetpack is incorrectly flagging an IP address that’s not mine and blocking access to the admin panel across all devices and locations.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any insights on what might be going wrong and how to fix it? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

    Stevan

  • Hi there,

It sounds like you’re experiencing issues with Jetpack’s Brute Force Protection feature blocking access to your admin area with an incorrect IP. This might be due to a problem with your server’s configuration which is forwarding an incorrect IP address.

To resolve this, please check your server configuration for any reverse proxy or similar setup that might be causing the incorrect IP address to be sent to Jetpack. You may also want to speak with your hosting provider about this.

Additionally, I recommend checking if any other security plugin might be causing this behavior. Since you’ve already attempted disabling Jetpack by renaming its folder and the issue persists, it’s possible there may be a caching issue. Ensure that any server-side or WordPress caching plugins are cleared.

Please let us know if any of those steps resolve the issue!

    Hello @stevanbn,

Do you have updates about that? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no movement, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!
