• After updating to Jetpack 2.3.3 I get:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

I tried deactivating all plug-ins and then activating Jetpack that did not work.

Please provide detailed, step-by step resolution. I know a bit about computers but am finding WordPress to be very complicated, so a “first go to filezilla, click on explanation would be perfect. Thanks in advance.

  • Did you try deleting the plugin, then re-installing it entirely?

Yes, Jonathan, thanks. This is what happens when I try to reinstall Jetpack (after having deleted it completely):

    Could not copy file. /home/vol14_1/byethost17.com/b17_13241641/theunofficialheatherleablog.org/htdocs/wp-content/upgrade/jetpack.tmp/jetpack/_inc/gallery-settings.js

and then I continue to get the same fatal error message.

I am definitely not smart enough for WordPress…

I do not know if this has anything to do with anything, but while I am trying to resolve the Jetpack issue, I was trying to use Jetpack Lite. I get this error message:

Jetpack lite could not contact WordPress.com: register_http_request_failed. This usually means something is incorrectly configured on your web host.

Operation timed out after 5000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received
