[JETPACK] Jetpack could not contact WordPress.com: register_http_request_failed

  • Hi, I see there have been other posts about this issue and they have replies saying the issue has been resolved or there is a request to open a new ticket.

    So here is a new ticket. I have 3 wordpress sites on different accounts on the same server where Jetpack won’t activate with the error

    Jetpack could not contact WordPress.com: register_http_request_failed. This usually means something is incorrectly configured on your web host

    I have tried connecting in SSH via
    # lynx https://jetpack.wordpress.com/jetpack and it times out

    Looking up jetpack.wordpress.com
Making HTTPS connection to jetpack.wordpress.com
Alert!: Unable to connect to remote host.

    Any suggestions?
