Jetpack invalid_client plugin re-activation error

When I try to activate Jetpack on a site, I get the following error:
Invalid request, please go back and try again.
Error Code: invalid_client
Error Message: Unknown client_id.This appears on WordPress.com servers at a URL like this: https://jetpack.wordpress.com/jetpack.authorize/1/?response_type=code&client_id=1&redirect_uri=${siteurl}
I’ve zapped the local wp_options rows and tried various judo but can’t seem to re-connect. From the only other threads on the topic this appears to be something on the WordPress.com side, perhaps my site villagelife.com needs to be manually disconnected.
Anyone know how I’d go about requesting that?
