I did the Jetpack upgrade yesterday. Now This message from WordPress:

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.
In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, Jetpack.
First, visit your website (https://www.craig-galt.info/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://www.craig-galt.info/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.craig-galt.info%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1) and check for any visible issues.
Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.
If your site appears broken and you can’t access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special “recovery mode”. This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. Don’t worry about that, though: a new link will be emailed to you if the error occurs again after it expires.
When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
    WordPress version 5.8.3
Current theme: Weaver Xtreme (version 5.0.6)
    Current plugin: Jetpack (version 10.5)
    PHP version 7.4.10

For a few hours, I was able to access my site, log-in and make changes – but now I just get:

There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

What can I do? When will Jetpack fix this issue

  • It loads okay for me. Have you cleared all caches and/or tried another browser or private/incognito session?

Thanks, jodzee – that works for viewing the site, but I still cannot enter edit mode without getting the “critical error” message. I notice in the Forum that this is happening to others, so I hope the Jetpack programmers are onto this – everything else I have tried has failed.
A friend has suggested using FTP and deleting the Jetpack folder, but that may be beyond my capabilities … :-/

    Hi @kacraig,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused by this error notification. Our developers are aware of the problem, and we’ve confirmed this error shouldn’t cause any issues on your site. The error resolves itself during the process of updating the Jetpack plugin, and the error should not occur again now that the plugin update is complete.

    Sorry for the false alarm!

I can see, however, that while your site is back online, the Jetpack connection appears to be still broken, reporting an HTTP 500 error.

The first thing to try is to increase the memory available to WordPress:

    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/increasing-the-wordpress-memory-limit/

If that doesn’t work, can you check your error logs to see what exactly is going wrong? Your host can help you find them if you need help.

In that case, you can also contact us via this contact form:
    Contact Support.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

@medvidekpu, are you still getting errors after updating Jetpack?

If that’s so, could you post your site URL here, so I can have a look?
    ?

@erania-pinnera it seems everything is working OK. Even publishing article and automatic sharing to social.

    So i’m fine.

I had this same message from WordPress yesterday, but everything was still working fine. Today I’m getting a blank screen with just my visitor counter showing up in the top left-hand corner.

I have deleted and re-added jetpack and I’ve cleared my cache, but I’m still getting the issue on both Edge and Opera on the desktop, but Opera Mobile *seems* to be working.

I don’t know how to attach a screenshot, but the site I’m having trouble with is https://www.dianewordsworth.com

    Thanks for any help.

Mine’s been resolved now too, thanks to the support guys at Jetpack for responding to my support ticket. (Mine wasn’t even Jetpack, as it turned out, but still they helped!)
