• Just logged in at 11:30am to find my JetPack Plugin has been deleted. After re-installation manually because of “Download failed. SSL connect error” I find the plugin has be deleted for about an hour and a half. I have never had any issued with my blogs in the 4 years I have been blogging until this week.

On April 18th 2015 I mentioned Jade Helm 15 in a post and 1 hour later my database went down and the website refused to work. Which lead me to believe it was some kind of US government hacking. All my other website databases were working fine. After about 3 hour I called GoDaddy and they said everything was working fine on their end and they didn’t know what the problem was, they tried to upsell me a security program. After hanging up my website magically worked again.

Now JetPack deleted it’s self today and wont allow me to install it normally so I did it with a FTP, which worked. When trying to update plugins i get and error “Download failed. SSL connect error”.

I expected this site to get hacked or something be a competitor or spammer cause of my killer keyworded domain name that fits my niche perfect.

Any insight would be good, but I really don’t expect to get too many answers on this problem. Just installed WordFence so maybe that will help.

  • I think you will find Wordfence to be a good foundation for site security. I suggest you go to Dashboard > Wordfence > Options > Scans to include and check all the boxes in this section before you run a scan. This will give you the most scanning options.

The firewall is good too. The documentation is very good for each firewall option. You can set the options quite tight or more open depending on how you view your risk.
