    Hello!

I’ve installed Jetpack and try to set my paintings gallery ( https://agau.ru/psy/wordpress/a2/ )
I have several questions concerning gallery images thumbnails:

    1. Is it possible to set each image thumbnail individually? I want to choose different area of a painting depending on painting itself as a thumbnail. For example, I want to exclude paintings frames from thumbnails images (it looks not good when there are frames only at sides or only at the top and bottop of an image). Though I don’t need to change full images (they are o.k.). I’ve tried to set thumbnails for several images, but for certain reason I cannot manage do it inside gallery. Technically I can crop area inside an image and save it as thumbnail (as described here), but this doesn’t affect my gallery even I can see this thumbnail in preview of this particaular image in the WP admin panel.

    2. I have 12 images and 9 columns in my gallery:
    [gallery columns="9" type="square" ids="619,605,606,607,617,618,591,585,584,583,582,581"]
, so there are 3 images in first row and 9 images in the second. The problem is that these 3 images in the first row are huge. Is there any easy way to minimize them to the size of remaining 9 images? So there would be 3 small thumbnails and then 6 blank places in the first row and then 9 small thumbnail in the second (or 9 in the first and 3 in the second)?

    Thanks!

I’m afraid that’s not possible. Jetpack does it all automatically on the fly, based on the number of images in the gallery, their order, their size, and their orientation. There is no way to manually override that behaviour.

I realize it’s not ideal in your case, though. I’m afraid I can only suggest that you choose a different gallery type in those cases, since Jetpack’s Tiled Galleries won’t be able to give you the flexibility you need.
