Jetpack free and wordpress reader

Hi, is it possible for new posts on my site to be seen in wordpress reader? I have read that you need jetpack paid for any posts from www.remarpro.com or other self-hosted sites to be seen by followers in wordpress reader. My posts are not showing up in wordpress reader, despite my wordpress.com account following my self-hosted account. I am with bluehost. Please advise.
