    Hi,

I am using Jetpack 2.0.2 on wordpress 3.4.2 on my website Aero-Sapiens.

I also cusotmized the widget as per instructions in this post so as to have theme background as the background of widget and it worked seamlessly.

Now it works perfect till I am not logged in Facebook (in any other tab of browser). As soon as I log into Facebook (in any other browser tab) or login to my site using Facebook, the height of the widget gets reduced and also the background changes as per colour scheme of widget (Default – Light).

Any suggestions to fix it will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Varun

I’d love an answer, too. I seem to be having a similar/related problem. Wish there was a way to attach images so that I can illustrate the situation!

I should note that I’m not even logged into Facebook, nor have I made any modifications to this widget’s CSS, yet I’m having the same issue with the bottom of the FB Likebox being cut off!

The color scheme doesn’t change for me, though….

Okay, an update for the record, in case it might help anyone:

The problem lies with Facebook, as non-WordPress webmasters also complain about this issue.

I managed to resolve the height problem by fiddingling with the Jetpack Facebook Likebox widget’s settings. Unfortunately, a new issue was created: instead of 15 “fan faces” I’m getting 16, which in my theme looks visually awkward on its own line, followed by empty spots!

Where in Jetpack can we control the number of fan faces displayed — or is that delivered straight from Facebook??

That’s correct. The Like Box iFrame is loaded from Facebook, and Facebook doesn’t offer any customization options other than what can be changed in the widget settings.

You can do some tests here to check how your Facebook Like Box will appear on your site:

That’s also controlled by Facebook, and they do not offer any setting allowing you to control the number of Faces displayed there, I am afraid.

    Hi, Jeremy,

Thanks for the confirmation. Just one more question, please: where in facebook-likebox.php can I find the statement(s) that pull in from Facebook the name of the Facebook page?

I’d like to just “hard-code” that in myself (“Acme Co.” instead of “Acme Company”).

You could hard-code the link by editing $like_args in facebook-likebox.php, but your changes will be overwritten with each Jetpack update.

Do you experience issues when adding the page URL in your widget settings?

    (@aminkaozmun)

    Sorry, Jeremy,

I should have explained my goals better.

No, no issues with the URL — Jetpack’s Facebook functionality finds the page with no problems! I just need to change the page title to better match the layout provided by Facebook.

I have a long company name that looks jumbled, so I need to shorten it (hence “Acme Co.” instead of “Acme Company”) in this Jetpack widget by hard-coding it in myself.

What in facebook-likebox.php calls the page name value from Facebook? I need to hard-code this text string in myself.

    All advice appreciated!!

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to change your Facebook page’s title by making changes to the Jetpack plugin. The Page Title comes from Facebook, and if you want to change it you will have to change the Page Name in Facebook.

In general, if you cannot make the change through the Like Box builder here, you won’t be able to make the change in jetpack either.

Okay, thanks again for the confirmation, Jeremy! Believe it or not, Jetpack’s Facebook Like Box functionality is actually more customizable than Facebook’s own WordPress plugin. For example, Facebook insists on their standard 292px min-width but Jetpack provides much more leeway!

Thanks again for your time and help. =)

when I change widget height to be 65px it defaults to 110 which looks funky with my theme.

default min should be changed from current 100px to 65px for future jetpack updates

@ngoodfellow – this thread is marked resolved and outdated – not a good place to post anything – as JetPack and FB have both changed since then. Please start your own thread per:
