    1. shut down all plugins
    2. try to activate Jetpack with WP.com
    3. connect to wordpress (for API)

    Do any of you scholarly chaps have any advice on this?

    I’ll try with “blank” htaccess too, but with all plugins turned off, I would have expected this to work. I don’t even know what this error is.

  • My hosting provider verified that settings were correct, but I still can’t connect…

    I’m using WordPress 3.3.1 an JetPack 1.2.2

    On one server, a stand-alone WordPress installation has no problem connecting to wordpress.com, however, a multi-site installation – which lives in the directory next door – won’t connect. It allows Jetpack to be Network actived. Connetecting the individual sites results (even with all other plugins [network] de-actived) in:

    Could it be a multi-site issue?

    Update: the widget area of the “working” stand-alone installation crumbles. Deactivating Jetpack results in:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function xml_parser_create() in /path-to-site/wordpress/wp-includes/class-IXR.php on line 211

    The plot thickens…

    Any ideas?

    I don’t have a multi-site installation and yet I’m still getting this error…
