I post every night to my blog just after midnight. Last night the email format to all my subscribers was the standard format I’ve had for years with Jetpack. The same one listed on Jetpack’s site in their help area that shows what one looks like.

Suddenly tonight when I posted, there is a totally new email format that is a very bare bones layout. Just a white background. Sitting alone at the top of the white background is the small square image of my site image. Then below is a big bold title of my blog. Then below tht my picture and the date. Then the excerpt. Then a “Read more of the post” below that. And then a “Comment” and a “Like” button. This is the first big problem if this happens to be a new format for email subscriptions as I don’t even use the “LIKE” feature for Jetpack on my site. So if I click that like button is just goes to the area of my posting where the “Like” button should be.

Regardless, this format doesn’t look right in any of the email tests I have from GMAIL to Yahoo. The like button shouldn’t be there. And my site image is all by itself in a small square without any formatting which looks strange. And the category that my blog falls in which used to always be at the bottom of the email format is now gone. As I said it’s a very bare bones layout email now?

Is this a new layout you are trying out or an error that a programmer made? If it’s the right layout, then you need to remove the “Like” button on the email since I don’t use it and I’m sure not everyone uses it either?

Note: I opened an email ticket as well because I sent screenshots there of last night’s email sent out and tonights email sent out to show the difference.

No changes were made on my site between last night’s posting and tonight’s posting whatsoever. But I also know all subscription emails and their formats come from Jetpack and we can’t modify except the EXCERPT field which I always use when I post and then delete after posting.

Please help explain whether this is a new format or an error and if a new format, do I just need to accept a like button there that has no purpose and will I no longer have the category listed and the nice formatting from before?

    Please help!

    Hi there,

We have received your email and we will reply to you over email after the investigation. Since the issue is submitted via email, I’m closing this topic here at the forum in order to easily track the issue in one place (over email). ??

@bizanimesh this is of a pressing nature and I needed a quick answer. Or sometimes takes the email team a good while to respond if you are using the jetpack free support. I really need to know if the design changed for the jetpack email subscriptions from yesterday to today because there was no notice or notification and there are issues with the design and errors. My Users are already complaining about it. Please respond this is urgent!

And for users who may not be aware of this issue because I’ve been reading it’s affecting many people. So maybe you guys should respond to it here. There is an open issue on this already on GitHub.

    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/24036

Can you please on here let users know if the email template changed or if that was an error? And can you please let us know whether we can roll back to the template we had because that is one of the main reasons why I went with jetpack all those years ago, specifically for the template on the email. As far as I know jetpack controls how the template of the email looks except for the content which we can use the Excerpt field. If you are going to change something as big and important to subscribers as this, and fully control it, should not it be allowing users to have a say since it is what we send out to people in our postings? Please explain for clarification for all.

    Hi @andrewarthurdawson

The Email template was changed to match new design trends and better practices, like better reading for people with disabilities and a clear code to improve speed.

We understand that new changes are, sometimes, hard to get used to, but the new email layout is better for you and your users.

Since your other concerns are being addressed via Support, I am closing this ticket.

    Have a nice day.

@deathlynotes i appreciate the response. Is there a plan to fix the bugs in the email? Having a like button that I don’t use and no formatting where my site image is for example? And is there only one template or more then one as in the GitHub issue opened it referenced “templates” as in plural? I wish jetpack gave the subscriber the ability to choose because personally the template used for years was very good with my readers. This one doesn’t seem to be liked so I’m hoping you will at least address these format issues?

    Hi @andrewarthurdawson

There is only one email template. Presently, there is an issue already for the “like” button:

    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/24052

If you come across additional issues not linked in the main thread:

    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/24036

You can make an issue on our GitHub repo. That is the best place to report bugs and/or make feature requests. We have a guide here:
