Whole sub directories and files of Jetpack (www/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/) were removed out of sudden today. And Jetpack disappeared from my dashboard, and this is crazy. I did not delete/deactivate Jetpack. I haven’t done anything about disappearing Jetpack, even though i’ve changed function.php very minor under the Jetpack mobile theme. This change can’t be realated to the disappearance of Jetpack.

Could anybody explain to me why Jetpack disappeared suddenly?

I want to know why this is happening because i’ve been working on the jetpack mobile theme and i’ve lost all the changes. I’d like to know what has caused this so that i can be prepared for it if this happens again next time.

    Does anybody know?

I have searched google for this topic.
There are tons of postings on the internet experiencing this same thing, but no one has the answer why this happens. This could be a critical drawback for Jetpack.

Even though all the sub-directories and all of their files are gone, the folder name, …./wp-contents/Plugins/jetpack/, is still there. (So, this folder name has to be removed to install the jetpack plugin again)

I just want to know why this happens.

It generally happens randomly and just signifies a failed update. It could have happened for a variety of issues, including a temporary connection glitch on your server’s end or lack of available server resources at the time.

They can happen from time to time on a shared server for any plugin or theme update. Since you’re sharing the server with thousands of other sites, sometimes one is taking all the resources or causing other problems.

Unfortunately, this is not something that we, or even WordPress, can avoid.
