I was updating my plugins, got an error message from Jetpack and now it has totally disappeared from my plugin list. When I go to reinstall I get this message: Installation failed: Destination folder already exists.

Please help. It has been working without issue for years. And does this mean all my stats are gone?

You’ll need to access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/plugins/ and delete the whole /jetpack/ directory there.

Once that’s done, you’ll be able to reinstall Jetpack normally from Plugins > Add New in your site’s Dashboard.

I am having the same issue

Do you know why it happened? And if I delete everything won’t I lose all my stats from the past year?

    Hi @dianefh,

Do you know why it happened?

We don’t know why it happened as we need more context (what exactly you were doing and Jetpack’s error message).

And if I delete everything won’t I lose all my stats from the past year?

Your stats are not stored within your Jetpack installation. They’re stored in our servers. As long as you connect to the same WordPress.com account there’s no worry in losing them.
