    Hi
I was advised to start my own thread on the above subject which seems to be troubling a few users.

On our team site at https://phasma2.com, after updating to WP 3.6 and Jetpack 2.4, my widget page on the dashboard disappeared almost entirely and what little showed on the page was unresponsive, even the help and screen setting default buttons.

After deactivating all plugins, nothing changed. Worse still Jetpack would show a 500 Error page every time I tried to deactivate it.

Before that though I changed to the Twenty Thirteen theme and other default WP themes to see if the incompatibility was with my template (Aggregate by Elegant themes). This did nothing to alleviate the problem either.

In the end I was forced to delete the plugin folder via FTP. This restored all my functions to normal.

The site uses Jetpack mainly for the good social sharing package and stats control that it contains. These two functions are pretty integral to the way I manage the site. So understandably I would like to be able to re-install Jetpack.

My Site is run on WP 3.6, always kept fully updated, my hosting service is on HUB Web hosting. Below is a list of all the plugins I have used in to date, and so far with older versions of Jetpack they have caused no issues to occur.

    Akismet
    Disable Comments
    Easing Slider “Pro”
    Elegant Builder
    Fullscreen Galleria
    Ninja Pages, Categories, and Tags
    No Right Click Images Plugin
    Revision Control
    Ultimate Tag Cloud Widget
    Yet Another Related Posts Plugin

Addendum: I tried uploading an older version of Jetpack but this had the same result forcing me to delete this from my FTP too.

  • Hi Everyone. I ran into this same issue on my wife’s site after the most recent updates of WordPress & Jetpack. I received 500 errors when trying to publish a post, when trying to delete a post received a message saying trash error. Though both worked! Also 500 errors when commenting on a post. When I tried deactivating all plugins Jetpack was the only one that did not work and gave a 500 error. When trying to delete or disconnect from WordPress I also received 500 errors.I also lost my widgets page. I have since deleted Jetpack plugin through FTP and everything is back except when people try to comment on a post it still gives 500 errors??? Even though Jetpack has been deleted. Have been dealing with this problem for a week, unfortunately I am not a code genius & support was closed. I LOVE Jetpack and am hoping someone has a solution fast.

    Hi Vishy,

As you know, we’ve been away at a company meetup, which is why we haven’t responded. The issue with the subscription widget is a known one, but we do not yet know the reason for it. As for your most recent issue (the “invalid_request”), what site is that for? I can look into it for you.

    Hi Richard

This is on my personal site. My domain is fluxink.com, and the protfolio/photography part of it is f5.fluxink.com. This specific block on connecting to Jetpack/Wordpress account happened on the blog component sub domain here https://f5.fluxink.com/blog, not on the rest of the sites here. This domain is my own and I’ve been using IX Web Hosting for it for the last ten twelve years or so.

I would like to know why there are now two buttons connecting Jetpack with WordPress? it seems redundant.

    Hi Vishy,

What do you mean, 2 buttons to connect to WordPress.com? Can you show me a screenshot of that?

Sure But how do I attach to this? Or do I need to upload it somewhere and put a link here?

The second button appeared after the last update, as far as I remember.

Well OK, I uploaded it here:

Hi Vishy, as esmi noted, use a service for it, since I can’t access that link you posted.

    Hi all –

Since you all were going to be away, I waited to hit update.

This all is quite scary. I have too many sites to maintain to automatically upgrade without pausing for a minute to see what happens with an update.

Is it safe to assume that you will be issuing an updated version of this last update with fixes for these problems? :S

    P.S.

The previous is on the site that I mentioned does NOT allow me to link to WP using the second button. On my other sites it allows me to link, but I now have two buttons saying the same thing, more or less, at the top.

    Here is the screenshot: https://snag.gy/kWiJa.jpg

This, goes without saying I hope, is on my sites where Jetpack still functions.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

@vishy The 2 buttons can be confusing, indeed. Let me try to explain the differences between these 2 functions:

    • When you first install and activate Jetpack on your site, you have to connect Jetpack to your WordPress.com account for all modules to start working properly. That’s the first button. https://snag.gy/WnVJk.jpg Once you’re connected, you can start using features like Publicize, Toolbar Notifications, or Post by Email.
    • If other users want to use these features, they also have to connect their own account to their WordPress.com account. That’s why a second connect button appears. In your case, you probably logged in with an account different from the account you used to connect Jetpack to WordPress.com in the first place.

Now back to the original error message:

    Error Code: invalid_request
Error Message: The URL stored by the Jetpack servers does not match your site.

I had a look at your site settings, and it seems that you’ve recently changed your site URL from blogf5.badmathematics.com to f5.fluxink.com/blog. That’s why Jetpack returns this error message. Could you log in to your site with the account you used to make the original connection to WordPress.com, and try to disconnect, then reconnect to WordPress.com?

Let me know if it helps.

@bcr8tive If you experience issues with Jetpack, could you start your own thread, and give me some details along with a link to your site? I’d be happy to help you out!
    Thanks!

    OK folks

After much heartache and headache and all sorts of other ache, I believe we have the answer. Let us stop messing around with all the other answers and try this. Check your control panels to see if your php version is lower than 5.3? If it is that right there is what was blocking Jetpack. Mine was just updated from 5.2 to 5.3 and lo and behold, having installed Jetpack, all is well again and working as it should!!!!

Let me know if this works for you.

Thank you Vishy. This was indeed the solution for me.
