    Hello,

I’m hoping someone might have found a workaround for this. I like Jetpack comments and I want to keep using them, I also like the “follow this blog” check mark they include, but I want to change the subscription handling itself to mailchimp. I have an RSS feed automated email set up there and already imported all of my current subscribers to a list there, so now I need to know:

-How do I stop jetpack from sending duplicate new post notifications to my current subscribers list? (Beyond unchecking the option on every new post)

-How can I set it up where new subscribers are subscribed to the mailchimp list, rather than jetpack via the cool check mark? I do see that mailchimp has the option to add a check, but it appears to not work when using jetpack comments ??

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

I would recommend that you deactivate the Subscriptions module under Jetpack > Settings > Discussion in your dashboard. Once you do so, Jetpack will stop sending emails to your Jetpack subscriber list.

I’m afraid there is no perfect solution here. The checkbox is linked to Jetpack’s Subscriptions module, and can’t be updated to add email addresses to your Mailchimp list instead.

The best solution would be to use a checkbox provided by Mailchimp, but to do that you will need to deactivate Jetpack’s Comment form option under Jetpack > Settings > Discussion. Once you’ve done that, your site will start using the default comment form again, and other plugins like Mailchimp will be able to hook and add things to that default form. They can’t currently hook into the Jetpack comment form because it is added to your site via an iFrame, and actually lives on WordPress.com.

    I hope this helps.

Get a plugin (free) called MailChimp for WordPress and you can include a checkbox under the default comment box for someone to sign up to your MC list (disable the Jetpack “new posts” checkbox). You can have the box checked or not by default. See it on my site here: https://theboatgalley.com/more-uses-for-your-aquabot/

That only works if you’re using the default wordpress commenting system. You have to turn off jetpack comments, which I prefer because it allows both anonymous posters and those who want to sign in via social media. I ended up just leaving it. I’ll have to manually add subscribers from my jetpack subscriptions to mailchimp and them delete them, but that seems to be the only way to get the best of both plugins so to speak.
