    Hi–

We are having an error with jetpack on wordpress 4.0. The site is https://deliciouslovelyhappy.com/

I am unable to connect to wordpress.com to get jetpack working; jetpack worked fine on the previous version of wordpress. The error message is “Your website needs to be publicly accessible to use Jetpack: site_inaccessible
Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site [HTTP 403]. Ask your web host if they allow connections from WordPress.com. If you need further assistance, contact Jetpack Support: https://jetpack.me/support/”

As soon as I upgraded to 4.0 this started happening. I have deactivated all my other plugins and reinstalled jetpack, to no avail.

When I go to https://deliciouslovelyhappy.com/xmlrpc.php the output is “XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.”

    Thanks.

Although your site’s XML-RPC is accessible in the browser, requests to that file are blocked. You can reproduce the issue with a test request like this one:

I would recommend that you contact your hosting provider and ask them to take a look and allow incoming requests to the file.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello Jeremy,

easyPress.ca is where deliciouslovelyhappy.com is hosted. There are protections in place that block POST requests without a referrer. I’m surprised this is the first time this has come up since our countermeasure is rather common. Yes, it’s easy to thwart this protection but there are incredible amounts of automated attacks that use up system resources and this rule is one of many that helps to protect us.

Would you consider adding a referrer to your requests?

@victor Could you send us an email so we can find out the best way for both of our services to work well together? You can mention this thread so I can follow up with you.

    Thanks!

The same thing happened to me. After the update to WP 4.0, Jetpack wouldn’t connect anymore. XMLRPC file is blocked by my provider (he.net), and they won’t enable it back. But it’s weird that Jetpack did work before 4.0.

    Any workaround?

@eugenialoli I replied in the other thread you started about this issue.

@eugenialoli you commented on another thread about the same issue one of our customers was experiencing. We’ve since updated our filtering rules and now allow access to xmlrpc while blocking the most common attack methods. Please contact me directly if you’d like to discuss how we can help.

edit: oops, this was supposed to be posted to the other thread. :/
